Nigel has worked as a performer for more than forty years in and out of London’s Royal Opera House, including seventeen years as Principal Percussion with the Orchestra and eight years as the Music Administrator for The Royal Ballet.

In the course of over 6000 performances, broadcasts and recordings he has worked with many of the leading figures in the classical music industry and brings his experience, observations and reflections - both as a player and as a manager - on the unique world of the performing arts and artists.

After living for two years in Australia, including a stint as General Manager at 2MBS, Sydney's fine music broadcaster, Nigel returned to the UK to resume his music and speaking engagements across the country.  He was a producer for both the BBC's Maestro at the Opera and Pappano's Classical Voices television documentary series, subsequently being appointed to the position of Music Administrator for The Royal Ballet.  He continues to work as a percussionist and lectures widely for The Arts Society network.
